I study the mediums by which human perceptions are shared, with an emphasis on written and unreliable narratives. My greatest pleasures are writing and rewriting initial drafts.
I began writing at a very young age. My first poem, about a bear that travels to the fair and loses all his hair, was turned in as an assignment in grade school, along with a crayon sketch of the bald bear. Through middle school and high school I skipped the short story and attempted novel writing. I still have thousands of pages, clichés, sentimental trash, high school nonsense stored in a box in my closet, and every so often my sister will run up to that box, during our family reunions, and read a page aloud, just to tease me.
I first studied creative writing at Florida International University's Biscayne Bay campus. Later, I graduated with a fiction writing degree from Columbia College. In October of 2010, I published my first novel Lole.
