"Happiness is a soft light that we see our lives by before we fade into the dark."

Hi, my name is Rose Burg and I love to write. If you look up, you can see that I am from Australia which means that I generally post my stories at weird times of the day. Ok, so something about me:

- I love to read and write but I also love to paint. - My favorite colour is blue but I also love green. I love aqua because it is both green and blue. - I love the water and I love swimming. Plus I can't feel the cold in the water. - I love all seasons - I think that snow is the most beautifully indescribable thing on the whole of the Earth.  - I love to run and I run when I'm stressed or tired. I also play soccer or 'football' as it is more universally known as. - I love to ski.  - I have always loved maths, english, history and science. I know 'what a nerd' but that's just what I enjoy. - I love elephants and mockingbirds.

I came onto this site because I love to write but I never really told anybody about how much I loved to write – which means that nobody ever really read my stories. My aim for my use of this site is to get peoples opinion of my work. I haven’t been on here for long but I already check it every day and squeal whenever I see ‘New Messages’, or ‘New Fan Requests’, so you could say I am a bit pathetic. When I first posted my work on this site I didn’t expect people to like it. Namely because a lot of what I write starts as a retarded dream and elopes into some detailed story and I sit looking at my computer screen thinking “Where did that come from?” I write most of my short stories in about ten minutes because if I take my time then I lose the idea I had and the story doesn’t work. I do go over my work but I am human and I actually love it when people comment and say you spelt this and this and this wrong because I am honestly a shit speller and spell check to me is God.

I currently have a growing list of (cannot be bothered to count) short stories and four novels and more coming! I am only going to tell you about my novels because they are my focus point – the short stories were written for competitions or for fun.

The Run Away - Cover.jpg

The Run Away

Callia has always run. She has perfected the art of escaping and can disappear with ease. Her latest escape was performed with a master’s hand, but the guy she escaped from was different, he followed. Followed vigorously. What do you do when you're running from someone who is faster?

Dust and Blood: The Symbols of The People

Dust and Blood follows the lives of those trying to survive the Syrian conflict in 2012. [This is not a war story] The novel follows different people as they battle to survive in Syria. My intention with the piece is not only to portray the severity of the Syrian conflict but also to engage an emotional response. At times the story can be quite graphic and confronting (for some).

Misperceived - Cover.jpg

Big shout out to the amazing and talented Gladys Graham who did these AMAZING covers for me, she is truly talented and her work is VERY good!

On . . . The Run Away

I love Greece and Europe and Austria, so that is basically what you can expect from 'The Run Away'. I also love murder and a good serial killer. "A story is always better with a serial killer in it." But not always. Probably don't put one in a children’s book. I also have a map at the beginning of each chapter to show which country Callia is currently in. So if you’re reading 'The Run Away' and start getting confused and thinking 'she's just making up cities', I'm not, look at the map.

'The Run Away' gets into some pretty graphic content and uses quite coarse language, so if you aren't into that sort of stuff, I would probably stay away from this novel…

What am I currently reading?

I have read so many novels and they are all awesome so either look through the comments below for people have asked for reading requests because I haven’t read a bad story yet. I don’t believe that there is such thing as a bad story; yes some could use improving but none are bad. I have also read a couple of poems and short stories that I have loved! If I like a story or poem or novel I will comment because you went to the effort to write it so I take the effort to read and comment.

Please leave reading requests because surprisingly I have nothing better to do so just leave a comment below and I will respond and comment. Sometimes it is appreciated and I will probably give a more in-depth comment if you have taken the time to read and comment on my work. Expect similar comments that you give to me. Happy writing – Rose Burg xx
