Profile Information

Angel grew up with very few toys and at times would use what was available to make a toy to play with. He would find an item and use his imagination to bring it to life as something else. He loved to read and would use these “toys” in the stories he read.

He would go to the library and check out bags of books. One day he found an old tattered U.S. Army Soldiers manual on his way home from school. He read some of it, but he found it boring. The only thing that caught his eye was the way the different vehicles and various items were laid out. How they showed the different angles and dimensions. That same night he had his first design made, a jet plane from one of the stories. His love for design was born.

Angel's family went where the work was and by a series of circumstances was always moving. Although he would be placed in high level classes in school and was offered opportunities to go to science camps, his family was constantly on the move, so he did not have the opportunity to grasp anything being offered. He rarely had the chance to make any close friends. He joined computer clubs when he had the chance and was always looking for ways to vent his creative side.

Unfortunately his family wandered from city to city like nomads. Brooklyn, Providence, Los Angeles, Racine, Miami then finally Springfield. There, he ran away and dropped out out of school. His last year as a juvenile was hard, but he found the way to get a job, get a G.E.D. and since he did not see any other way to gain some marketable skills and keep himself fed, joined the military. He requested to be trained in “something with computers” and was given a communications position.

When he left the military, his first job was at a computer consulting company and found he had a knack for troubleshooting issues. He used this to get himself back to the only place he had found truly made him happy as a child and went back west to Los Angeles. A few years later he got married and moved close to Los Angeles Mission college. So close in fact he found it impossible not to go there and started to take classes geared towards Computer Science, then he changed it to Arts and Multimedia once he seen that it would allow him to venture into his more creative side. He had so many designs and concepts on scraps of paper, sketches and imagery that he felt those classes would help him bring those to closer to coming to life. He received a few awards while at Los Angeles Mission College, but did not continue to attend once he bought a house to far to juggle attending classes there, a job as a manager for a large audio/video firm and have a family life.

Once the economic downturn hit, Angel did freelance web/graphic design to pay the bills. His family size went from just three to five. He decided to move closer to his mother, father, brothers and sisters who were up and down the east cost. The first month he got there he decided that he needed to get at least one of his product designs out to the public. He had become tired of just dreaming of making something, it was time to act. He asked himself what would be the easiest one to make. Which one would he do? Some required a lot of work, others were way to expensive to make or sell for the general public. He could not decide.
