Profile Information

I am 65 years old an d have been writing all my life (or at least is seems so).  I have been taking it seriously for the past seventen years, and have had some small successes.  So far  I have failed to interest any publisher in any of my writing.

I write poetry, short stories and novels.  So far I have written eight novels, some have been creamated in sheer frustration, others I can not bear to part with.  I am in the process of finishing a saga in three parts, and have four other novels started.   Most of my writing has a Welsh theme, most are historical.

I have been married for forty-two years and have one daughter, unmarried aged 42 - an independant woman even though she still lives with us.  I have two dogs, a cross-dalamation/collie called Bono (yes I am a U2 fan) and Ben a collie who we rececently adopted.  I also have three cats, Milli, Daisy and Oz (after Ozzie Osborn the prince of darkness.  Oz is totally black.)

Besides my family, pets, and writing, my great love is travelling.  I have been to the US about 10 times in the past 15 years, and I love it.  I have also been to Australia, Egypt and France, Italyl, Belguim, Canary Islands, Spain, Germany, Holland.  That`s as much as I can remember right now.  Don`t think we are rich by that itinerary.  Most of our trips have been budget bargains.  My husband and I are just ordinary working class, though we are both retired now, and we live very modesly.

Further to the first paragraph above I have news on the publishing front.  Completely disillusioned by the constant regection by  various well-known publishers and the not so well-known ( you all know who they are - I don`t have to name names) I decided to take the plunge and do my own publishing.  It was not as hard as I thought it would be and got a quotation from a local printer for a very reasonable amount.  I decided to print only 50 copies  of my novel as it was my first effort, and have sold eight already.  I will be having a Launch Party at a local bookshop on the 8th December, 2009, and hope some people come along, if only cor curiosity.

The most difficult part of Self Publishing, is the marketing and selling.  I will let know how I get on.  I do not expect to regain my expenses as this is my first effort, but I hope to build up an interest amongst local readers.  At least my novel is published and people are able to read it.

My advise to all you other writers and poets is to give it a try and don`t be disheartened.
